I was asked to make a few family members a cowl this past Christmas and I really enjoyed creating this one! I’m normally am not a fan of slip stitch designs but I love the texture it creates. Though with a large hook and cozy yarn, this is a great stitch to use. I hope you enjoy this slip stitch free cowl crochet pattern as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Materials:
- Yarn: 2 Skeins Lion Brand Hometown USA Yarn
, 160 yards
- Hook: Size 15 mm
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
- Measuring Tape

Sizing:

8 slst by 9 rows alternating BLO/FLO = 4”

Beginning chain 1 does not count as a stitch.
Pattern Instructions
Ch 51
R1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, slst in back hump of each st – 50 slsts
R2: Ch 1, turn, slst in FLO of each st across – 50 slsts
R3: Ch 1, turn, slst in BLO of each st across – 50 slsts
Repeat Rows 2-3 until you have 19 total rows (ending on Row 3).
Row 20: Ch 1, turn, slst decrease in FLO over next 2 slsts, slst in FLO to last 2 slsts, slst decrease in FLO – 48 slsts
Row 21: Ch 1, turn, slst decrease in BLO over next 2 slsts, slst in BLO to last 2 slsts, slst decrease in BLO – 46 slsts
Repeat Row 20-21 until 10 slsts remain (ending on Row 21).
Row 39: Ch 1, turn, 2 slst decreases in FLO over next 4 sts, FLO slst next 2, 2 slst decreases in FLO over next 4 sts – 6 slsts
Row 40: Ch 1, turn, 3 slst decreases in BLO over next 6 slsts – 3 slsts
Finish off and weave in ends. Sew from Row 1 to Row 17 to close cowl.
Cut 48 14” lengths for fringe. Add 2 strips in first and last slsts of Row 40 and every other Row around entire cowl. Find a Fringe Tutorial here. Trim fringe if needed.
